Rotary Club of Everett
 
MEETING:
President Michael Kvistad called the meeting to order at 12:00 pm and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. This meeting was the 5,576th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett and meeting #26 of President Michael’s year.
 
THOUGHT OF THE DAY: 
We did not catch the Thought of the Day which was given by Ashley Bolden.
 
INTRODUCTION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
Guests were Betty Tucker, Jerry Tucker’s wife, and Tobi Echauri, our exchange student.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
President Michael asked the high school students a few questions and handed out prizes. The questions were:
  • 19th Century literature.  “Call me Ishmael” is the first line of what book? It’s Moby Dick, but it was only answered when I said it was about a whale. 
  • I asked What 2020 documentary was about big cat breeding and eccentric zoo operator. They got it right when they said, “Tiger King”.
  • What artist released the album, “Renaissance” in 2022? They got it right away for Beyonce.
  • I also asked what’s the name of the 2023 movie starring Margo Robbie as an iconic doll and Ryan Gosling as Ken. They smashed it with “Barbie”.
 
HAPPY DOLLARS AND BIRTHDAY BUCKS: 
President Michael, Janice Ellis and Larry O’Donnell gave happy dollars.
 
DRAWING:
Winner number 1 – Steve Juntwait, PP, received shortbread cookies and candy stir sticks.
 
Winner number 2 – Betty Tucker received cocoa bombs and candy.
 
Winner number 3 – Brian Hollingshead prize was coffee and candles.
 
Winner number 4 – Henry Newton, PP, received wine and candy stir sticks.
 
PROGRAM:
The meeting was held at the Carl Gipson Senior Center. Corey Armstong-Hoss, Executive Director of the Senior Center, gave us a warm welcome.
 
The Everett High School Choir performed Christmas songs.
 
NEXT PROGRAM:
SOCIAL MEETING on January 7th.
 
MEETING ADJOURNED:
President Michael thanked the Everett High School Choir and adjourned the meeting.
