Rotary Honors Three as January Students of the Month

The Rotary Club of Everett on January 16, 2024 honored three local high school students as Rotary Students of the Month.
Each month during the school year the club recognizes and celebrates outstanding high school students in the city of Everett for their accomplishments and their promise.

Student of the Month from Sequoia High is Juniper Thomas, who digs deep into topics to learn more. Juniper is an active officer in Art Club at Sequoia who also enjoys being a participant in Makerspace and Sustainability Club. Juniper played an integral part in launching the first Spring Bazaar at Sequoia, and was key in making the sought-after Italian sodas. They helped start the Technology Science Art (TSA) Club at Sequoia. A  teacher said Juniper enjoys learning “not just for school, but because they want to know the what, the why, the how, and the impact.”

Everett High Student of the Month is Shannon Chang. With a 3.76 GPA, Shannon takes nearly every AP class offered at EHS, plus music and art. In the business and marketing program DECA she serves as ambassador on its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team. Shannon participated in the highly competitive Young Executives of Color program hosted by the University of Washington. She serves as chapter officer for the Technology Student Association and is a fierce three-sport athlete. Shannon serves on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board and the UW Young Women in Leadership Summit.
