ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
 
MEETING:
President Michael Kvistad led us in the Pledge of Allegiance This was meeting #6th of President Michael’s year and the 5,556th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett.
 
THOUGHT OF THE DAY: 
Kevin Daniels gave the thought of the day. He read a Labor Acknowledgement which is on the Solid Grounds website.
 
INTRODUCTION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
Rich Toyer introduced his wife, Karen.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Brian Hollingshead announced that the August Happy Hour is August 15th at Courtyard by Marriott Everett from 5 pm – 6:30 pm.
 
President Michael made a few Olympic announcements. He showed a video of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce running in a school 100-yard dash. One announcement was of the Olympian from Turkey who competed in the pistol competition without the technology gear on. He won a medal. Another announcement was about a badminton player who won a Silver medal.
 
We need Raffle Prizes. Consider purchasing items.
 
GUESS WHO:
President Michael thanked the four Rotarians who volunteered to participate. They were Betsy Baker-Bold, Krissy Davis, Brian Hollingshead, and Kari Petrasek. Each one was entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card. The lucky winner who was Kari Petrasek. (Kari Quaas represented Kari Petrasek since Kari P was not in attendance.)
 
President Michael is seeking more volunteers for Gues Who.
 
HAPPY DOLLARS AND BIRTHDAY BUCKS: 
Rich Toyer was $100 happy for a birthday coming up and attending his first meeting in person since COVID pandemic (over 4 years).
 
Janice Ellis was happy for many reasons – Election Day, spending time with family in Canada and for our outbound student Parker Miller (Youth Exchange Student).
 
Cat Wilson was happy as she moved her office to 19th & Wetmore and thanked Brian Hollingshead for moving the furniture.
 
RAFFLE:
Winner number 1 – Steve Miller, PP, selected the Rotary at Work tshirt
 
Winner number 2 – Rich Toyer selected the white wine & Rotary wine glass
 
Winner number 3 – Glen Bachman won the box of chocolates
 
PROGRAM: Social Meeting
President Michael led us a game called Arbitrary and Capricious Trivia. There were three teams who participated. Elite who became the D-Elites. Peanut Gallery and Sassy.  The game was similar to Jeopardy as we had to answer in the form of a question. The winning team donates $20 and the losing teams donates $10. The topics were “I’ll take my chances”, “Geopolitics”, “Astronomy”, “19th Century US History”, and “80s Pop Culture”.
 
As the Sassy team lead majority of the game, the Peanut Gallery snuck in at the last second and won the competition with 1,395 points.
