ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
 
MEETING:
President Kelli Thode started the 46th meeting of the year and the 5,646th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Neha Kaur provided the Thought of the Day. The theme of the Thought of the Day was “Showing up means everything”.
 
INTRODUCTION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
No visiting Rotarians and/or guests.
 
NEW MEMBER INDUCTION:
Tasha Boston, KRB Construction, was inducted. Ashley Bolden is her sponsor.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
John Olson gave a Historical presentation about the Everett Rotary Park including information on the club having a BBQ after the work is done. In the 1980’s the members worked with the City of Everett to upgrade a park on Lowell Road. In 1989 the club donated $50,000 towards the development of the park. Since then, the club has done a spring cleanup with Interact Club, City of Everett and Rotarians. Don Senter and Tom Rainville would cook a BBQ and feed everyone after the work was done.
 
Rotary Park Cleanup is Saturday, June 13th 9 am to 12 pm. Please RSVP. Lunch served.
 
AVID Shopping Spree is June 2nd and 4th at the Fred Meyer at Murphy’s Corner. The time is 6 pm. Krissy Davis thanked everyone who is helping on both days.
 
Ashley Bolden mentioned that there is a community host family opportunity with student from Japan from the middle of July to the first of August.
 
Tammy Dunn announced that the Waterfront Watch Parties are seeking volunteers for June 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th.
 
HAPPY DOLLARS/BIRTHDAY BUCKS:
Henry Janicki was happy as he had the opportunity to travel to Japan with Secretary of State Steve Hobbs. He attended a Rotary Club of Tokyo, District 2750, meeting. He received a banner from the club.
 
President Kelli made a shoutout to the members online, Don Steward, Megan Dunn and Linsey Gagnon.
 
Kari Petrasek reported on the recent Dajabon trip. The group distributed books and to check on the water project which is almost complete.
 
Janice Ellis gave a report on the trip. It was great to see the friendships that have developed over the years.
 
Paul Stoot was grateful to go to Dajabon. This was his first trip.
 
Mark Valentine was happy to join the Port Gardner Rotary Club’s cleanup of the Van Valey House.
 
Krissy Davis was happy as she is one of the newest Leadership Snohomish County graduates. She is proud of the project she worked on, Healthcare Literacy.
 
Henry Janicki was happy for the newest Rotary member, and his eldest sister’s engagement.
 
RAFFLE:
There was a reminder to donate more prizes to the Raffle Committee.
Winner Number 1 – Henry Janicki selected the red wine and chips
Winner Number 2 – Neha selected white wine and hot cocoa
Winner Number 3 – Cat Wilson selected the shot glass and Starbucks gift card
 
PROGRAM: Strategic Planning Update
Ryan Willis shared data from the Strategic Planning survey that was distributed to the members. The Strategic Planning Committee received 24 survey responses.
  1. Strengthen Membership Demographics – prioritize professionals 30 to 50 years old to ensure long-term club vitality.  Rating 9.3
  2. Enhance Program Quality – relevant programs attract prospective members and retain current members. Ratin 8.65
  3. Improve New Member Onboarding – Refine Wheelers process to create a clear welcoming and consistent orientation experience. Rating 8.25
  4. Social Media Presence – Increase member engagement on social platforms to strengthen visibility and community connection. Rating 7.0
  5. Modernize Promotional Material – support outreach. Rating 6.71
  6. Develop Interact Partnerships – “Service learning” opportunities for high school students. Rating 5.96
  7. Launch a Public Fundraising Event – signature community fundraiser to support club initiative. Rating 6.0
  8. Standardize Monthly Service Projects – Deliver one service project each month. Rating 5.88
  9. Reinstate Rotary Park Cleanup – Visible community service effort. Rating 7.54
  10. Revitalize Fireside Events
The club will continue club traditions and priorities. We will need to be created to honor the traditions and become relevant to grow the club.
 
The Strategic Planning Committee will create a master plan to work on in the next year.
