ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
PRE- MEETING/MEETING TIDBITS:
Today, April 28th, is National Poetry reading day. I thought you might like this poem about Rotary.
In quiet halls where voices meet,
Across the world on every street,
A wheel turns slow, yet strong and true -
A circle bound by service through.
From town to town, from shore to shore,
Heads unite to do much more
Then words alone could hope to say -
They build, they lift, they light the day.
Where wells run dry, they bring the rain,
Where hope is lost, they mend the pain,
In classrooms bright, in futures wide,
They stand with purpose, side by side.
No single face, no single name,
Yet all who serve share one same flame:
“To give of self,” the quiet creed,
A promise shaped in word and deed.
The wheel keeps turning, never still,
Fueled by heart, by human will -
And in its spin, the truth we see:
A better world through unity.

MEETING:
President Kelli Thode led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and into our 42nd meeting of the year and our 5,642nd meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett. There were 28+/- Rotarians, guests, and ZOOMERS in attendance.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Vice President Ryan Willis was thankful for a variety of things. He recently spent quality time with his family, he is thankful for the fellowship and acquaintances he has made in Rotary over his last four years of membership in our club, he is thankful for his friends, and he is thankful today to celebrate his 30th birthday.
INTRODUCION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
Past President Andy Hall introduced his daughter Kjersti Stroup who is a Past President of the Rotary Club of West Seattle.
Danan Powell was introduced by Brian Hollingshead. Danan was at our meeting two weeks ago as the guest of Paul Stoot.
Tasha Boston is with KRB Concepts LLC.
V.P. Ryan introduced his friend Chris who runs a drivers’ education program for not only car drivers but also motorcycle riders.
RESOLUTION FOR TOM RAINVILLE:
President Kelli read a note from Past President Rose Goulet who was so pleased that Past President Bob Bavasi was providing the resolution for Past President and Past District Governor Tom Rainville. She knew how thoughtful and eloquent Bob was in the resolution he prepared and delivered for her father, Past President Ed Rubintino.
Kelli introduced Bob to come to the lectern and present his resolution for Tom. Bob said that Tom was the one who said he should be on the Resolutions Committee because it was one committee that didn’t require a lot of work. Bob was vice chair under Past President Larry O’Donnell. When Larry flunked out of Hospice he turned the chairmanship over to Bob. As we all know Bob has had a busy year and we and the families of those who have
been honored greatly appreciate our Chair of the Resolutions Committee.
Tom Rainville - 1930 - 2026

Tom grew up in Montana and served in the Army during the Korean War as a second lieutenant. After his service he attended the University of Montana and majored in accounting. He started his own accounting practice after graduating and later transitioned into banking. In the mid 60’s he moved to Everett where he worked for several banks before founding his own bank, American First Bank of Everett.
Besides his professional career Tom was passionate about serving his community and was an active volunteer and contributor to many Everett Healthcare Foundations, Boards, Youth organizations, etc.
We as members of the Rotary Club of Everett remember Tom for his leadership in our Club and District. He embodied the Rotary moto “Service Above Self”. He will be deeply missed.
