THE ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT Log of the Meeting of January 29, 2018 #29 (5287). After the warm greeting by Tom Lane and Jeff Moore, the meeting was called to order by President Amy Norman who then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Garth Fell gave the Thought of the Day and Jeff Moore introduced the guests for the day which included Len Maio (guest of Parker); Kelvis Mulima (guest of Will); Ryan Casey, David Cope and Jim Burr. There were no Visiting Rotarians. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Melissa and a special birthday cake was served. Announcements: - Amy corrected the invitation to the Village Theatre event which takes place tonight.
- President Amy then inducted new member Kelli Thode, Classification- Disaster Relief Management proposed by Will McMahan. Kelli is the new Executive Director of the American Red Cross.
- Induction of New Member, Ryan Casey, proposed by Janice Ellis, Classification – Court Assistance Services and is of right now, the newest member of Rotary.
- Classification Talk – Brenda Bolanos-Ivory told us of growing up in the military in Europe, attending UCLA Irvine, having serious spinal surgery and now working with addicts and the homeless.
- Membership Committee – Will McMahan said thanks.
- Brian Evans told us he needs 4 more committee members.
Happy Dollars/Birthday Bucks : - President Amy showed off some baby pictures belonging to new dad, Tom Kozaczynski;
- Walt’s anniversary;
- Dick was cold but the only person with a proper sweater was named O’Donnell;
- David Chan attended a leadership conference;
- Mary received the City Of Everett's Mayor's Art award for Arts Changing Lives;
- Pastor Paul asked for prayer for family in tragic accident;
- Roy pleased that Kelli is also from Ballard; Jim Burr finished the happy bucks but I missed it then a glad to see you for Bruce Timm after his many trials.
Raffle was won by Marybeth, Bob Bavasi and someone else. They all got to celebrate National Corn Chips Day with chips and dip. The program, “Children’s Hospital Facility” presented by David Stolte was introduced by Scott Washburn. David told us about the community’s new access clinics in Everett and Mill Creek which provide 22 specialities, group therapy, radiology and a lab and urgent care. President Amy awarded Don Senter, one of 5 district governors from our club, her inspiration award for his special service and friendship. He will be recognized at his retirement BBQ on May 18 Rotary Clean-up. President Amy thanked everyone and wished a Happy Birthday to Melissa and adjourned the meeting.
