THE ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
The meeting of October 6, 2015 #14 (5122) was called to order by ....... President Deborah Wright
who then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. The thought for the day was read by Andrea and Deb led the members in the opening song, O’Canada followed by the Star Spangled Banner.
Roy Yates introduced guests Davis Rainville, Dean Minor, Randy Myers, Julie Reymore and Katherine Nelson.
Announcements were mostly handled by Deborah and Judie and included the fact that the Membership Committee needed candidates with classifications of forest products, Direct Mail Services, and Engineering Marine. George Petrie’s 96th birthday would be celebrated on 10/20;
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner on Nov 13th; VOA’s Food Bank Volunteers on 10/29 from 11am to 1:30 pm but you weren’t required to stay the whole time; Fundraiser Payment Plans were available; Breakfast with Bethany is October 14th; and last but never least, Open House at Electronic Business Machines on Thursday evening.

Amy Norman celebrated 20 years in Rotary, Tom Koning acknowledged the nice people at the Department of Revenue, Maddy celebrated the LAST Possibilities Breakfast and the status change for the Everett Community Foundation to the Community Foundation of Snohomish County. After a thank you to Jim Schraeder Gail Larson announced she would be 73 next week. Larry O (we’re glad to see him back) told us about Will’s book on his cycling trip and Tim Huedak’s book on high school football where Everett HS was mentioned and then he presented a copy to Sally Landcaster.
Sally donated $100 to honor 530 Everett Homecoming kids. Don Senter was glad to see Bill Robson which Bill acknowledged and Pat Doud got a promotion.
The Raffle consisted of a special keychain, popcorn, merlot and Girl Scout cookies and went to Andrea, Roy and Randy. Two of Don’s special fruitcakes were raffled off for $220 and $200.
Greg Tisdel introduced District Governor, Bill Robson to present our program “Rotary
District 5050”.
DG Bill presented a number of interesting facts Everett Rotary which started
In 1917, had 109 Paul Harris’, had contributed over $1 million, and had 29 committees working
to keep the club running smoothly.
He said it was important for District Governors to talk about 3 things. (1) Membership (2)The Rotary Foundation and continuing to work until we irradicated polio and we are almost there.(3) The Governors’ Conference at Semiahmoo in Blaine April 28th to May 1st.
Bill went on to recognize what he called World Class Rotarians which included Rich Toyer,
Pat Sievers, Dale Newman, Andrea Secora, Mark Nesse, Tom Rainville, Don Senter and Jim
Schraeder. He closed with the statement, “I’m here for you.”
Deborah presented him with a certificate to Dispute Resolution Center and a bottle of tequila!
She went on to announce next weeks program “Home Works” by Ed Petersen and thanked
guests and contributions. Her closing aphorism was, “Money will buy a fine dog but only
kindness will make him wag his tail.”
Meeting was adjourned with the words, “Be a gift to the world.”
