President Kelli Thode led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and into her/our 9^TH meeting of the year and our 5,609^TH meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett.  

 

Kari Petrasek delivered the Thought of the Day. The thought was about Women’s Equality Day, 19^th Amendment – the right for women to vote.

Marc Baker Memorial Service, Sunday, Sept. 7^th, 1 pm – 4 pm at Everett High School Gymnasium.

 

Paul Stoot had happy and sad dollars. Jackie Bezo, Jeff Bezo’s mother recently passed awa. She had an imprint on schools and Paul’s life.

 

Peggy Ray had raffle tickets for sale. Money from the tickets is for the club’s scholarships.

 

Steve Miller, PP, was having a 69^th birthday and he recently participated in water ski tournaments.

 

Kari Quaas announced that her dad, Ralph Quaas, moved into an Adult Family home recently. He is doing well.

Anna Marie Laurence stated that the flyers that are being distributed are not true.

 

Krissy Davis spoke at the Lake Stevens Rotary Club.

Vice President Ryan Willis introduced Kyra Jorgensen. Kyra spoke about a year ago to the club. She spent six years building spaceships and grew up in New Mexico.

 

Fusion is the process of atoms combining to create a single atom. Energy is released in the process. Helion was founded in 2013. It has built seven fusion protypes in Redmond before moving to Everett. The company has 500+ team members and $1 billion private funding.

 

She showed a video on how energy is created.

 

Helion is building a fusion power plant in Chelan County. The power plant will be completed in 2028. Microsoft is its first customer.

 

Helion is involved within the community. The company is involved with Volunteers of America Western Washington, Snohomish STEM, and Girls on the Run Snohomish County. Kyra recently spoke with Cub Scouts.
