President Michael opened the 35^th meeting of the year and the 5,585^th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

Mark Valentine, PP, was singing “Ghostriders in the Sky” when I walked in. This song was written in 1948.

 

President-Elect Kelli Thode gave the thought of the day, which was Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self.

 

President Michael played a video on “What does Rotary mean to you, in one word?”

 

No visiting Rotarians or Guests.

 

President Elect Kelli Thode announced the monthly Coffee Hour is Wednesday, March 12^th at Sobar on Colby (Former Renee’s Clothing store) at 8 am.

 

Ryan Willis announced that he is the Director of Public Image for District 5050. He is looking forward to finding a way to target a broader audience to increase our membership.

 

Neil Angst, PP, announced the nomination slate of officers and board of directors for 2025-2026. The board of directors nominated are Greg Tisdal, Janice Ellis, Krissy Davis, and Ashley Bolden. Officiers are Neil Angst, Secretary, Tammy Dunn, Treasurer, and Anna Marie Laurence, President Elect Designee (2027-2028).

 

Liz Stenning announced that there is a Learn about Tax Credit session on March 20^th. Everett is one of 40 main street organizations around Washington State.

 

Bob Bavasi gave dollars to costume designer, Mark Valentine.

 

Will McMahan had a wonderful vacation in Palm Springs, CA.

 

Neil Angst gave a bell ringer for Ryan’s announcement.

 

Greg Tisdal is not a hat wearer. However, he is growing a ponytail as the motorcycle ride he is going on soon requires you to have a ponytail.

 

Paul Stoot gave sad dollars for the passing of former Mayor of Houston Sylvester Turner.

 

President Michael gave a bell ringer as his youngest daughter’s basketball season is over with. They had lots of fun and are ready for spring ball which starts in 2 weeks.

 

Winner number 1 & 2 – Marybeth Dingledy selected chocolates and wine plus coffee mugs and coffee. Twice winner.

 

Winner number 3 – Jerry Tucker picked truffles and a candle.

 

Kelli Thode gave an update on the Annual Fundraiser, Making a Difference. She asked the members to pledge money to the Annual Fundraiser. The money raised helps with scholarships, service projects and the club.

 

Kelli Thode introduced Linda Murray, South Everett Mukilteo Rotary Club. Linda is a past president, past District Governor and other position with District 5050.

 

Linda gave a brief history of the Council on Legislation. Council on Legislation makes the rules for Rotary. There are 500 members from all over the world who will meet in Chicago in a month to discuss the legislation. This council began in 1933. In 1954 the council met every 2 years, then in 1974 the council meets every three years. To be on the council, the Rotary must have been a past District Governor.

 

Linda has been reading the resolutions and sending these resolutions to the members of the clubs so that these members may learn more about the legislation.
