Stories
The meeting was called to order at 12:08 with the pledge of allegiance and Eileen Simmons followed with a thought for the day from Mother Teresa.  Kathryn Goforth provided a musical interlude with a selection from Fiddler on the Roof.  At 12:14, Mark Nesse introduced guests and visiting Rotarians.  Harv and Larry Jubie were in attendance as was Wendy McClure from Everett’s department of neighborhoods.

Marybeth Dingledy reminded members of the upcoming ‘Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner’ on November 13.  Eileen followed with a reminder about another opportunity for Rotarians to volunteer at the food bank.

George Bowden announced the latest initiative from the WCS committee.  They have put in for a district grant to fund a new project in the Dominican Republic.  Their next meeting on this topic will be Tuesday the 20th at 5PM at the Vintage Café.  All are welcome – one does not need to be on the WCS committee to attend.  They are planning a trip down to the DR in January or February of 2016.  A recent trip resulted in a banner exchange with the Rotary club in Santiago, DR, adding another pennant to our collection.

Tami Dunn announced the upcoming Interactive Fitness challenge on Saturday, November 14, 8:30AM – 1:30PM.  Happy Dollars and Birthday Bucks came from Ed Petersen (became Housing Hope’s Chief Strategic Officer), Jerry Tucker (Cougs), and Tom Koenig (Cougs).  Will McMahon, Tom Koenig and Harv Jubie won raffle prizes.

The program was provided by Ed Petersen on Hope Works, the array of social enterprises moving into the neighborhood between Compass Health and the transit center.  They are working with government and community organizations to revitalize the area.  Hopeworks consists of:  GroundWorks, a landscaping group, WaterWorks, a landscape irrigation operation, ReNewWorks which deals in recycled building materials, and CaféWorks, a hospitality training enterprise modeled on Seattle’s FareStart.

Meeting ended at 1:05PM.
