Meeting of May 26, 2020, 5,349 club meeting, President Steve Miller’s 45th meeting and 11th Virtual meeting.
Laura Zorick lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. President Steve gave us the sad news that Gail Larsen has passed this last weekend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gail’s family.
Fred Safstrom provided the Thought of the Day which was a quote from John Westly “Do all that you can”.

Visiting Rotarians: None Guests: Will McMahan introduced his guests, Eric Irelan who has submitted a membership application and Jonathan Campbell Enterprise Truck Rental. Deborah Wright, PP, introduced her husband, Bob Wright. Shannon Marsh, Deane Minor’s guest, was introduced and George Bowden, introduced Judge Edirin Okoloko.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Steve Miller – People’s Choice Award nominations are due Tuesday, May 26th. Steve has received many nominations.
- Will McMahan – His membership moment talk was how he learned about Everett Rotary from Dave Surface at an Everett Chamber of Commerce meeting. He was not asked to attend a meeting. Instead he attended a meeting. He was waiting to be asked to be invited to attend a meeting so invite someone to a Everett Rotary meeting.
- Cathy Woods – Virtual Happy Hour, May 21st, was a fun evening with a Sports Theme. Kaye Phinney won the Everett AquaSox prize. Next Happy Hour is June 4th at 5:30 pm and it will be a “Beach” Theme Happy Hour.
- Steve Miller – He asked that we submit the information for the Strategic Plan.
- Steve Miller – On June 9th, we will auction a Paul Harris donated by Tom Koenig, PP.
- Wick Temple – June 9th is the next Raffle, please donate on Monday, June 8th or before the meeting on June 9th, to be considered. Donate online.
HAPPY DOLLARS/BIRTHDAY BUCKS
- Henry Newton – Happy dollars for joining Rotary in 1972 and his birthday.
- Tina Gilson – Sad dollars for Gail Larsen as she hired Tina 15 years ago and Ted Wenta passed away a year ago.
- Steve Miller – For his father-in-law, as for the first time in 60 years he did not sell poppies on Memorial Day. He is 90 years young.
- Barb George – Dedication to the Veterans of today and the past.
- Ed Peterson, PP – Honor of Gail Larsen and the thought of the day reflection.
- Marybeth Dingledy – Her great grandfather was a Rotary member of New Castle Pennsylvania.
- Marc Baker, PP – Story about Gail Larsen, when she was the guest speaker for the program, Marc asked her why she was not a Rotarian, she stated, no one had asked her.
- Mark Valentine – He was to be flying back from Europe this week, but due to the Coronavirus the trip was canceled.
- Kelli Thode – Marysville Rotary is having a blood drive on June 3rd. Sign up to donate blood.
