THE ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
Meeting of December 15, 2015, meeting #23 in the reign of President Deborah Wright opened on time with the pledge of allegiance – led my her eminence Deb Wright
Then followed the “Thought for the Day” led by Tara Eckstrom,
and Visiting Rotarians were very ably introduced by Tom Koenig. (There weren’t any.) along with guests.

Centennial Report – Mark Nesse. Nesse droned on for way too long, and had to be ejected from the stage. In lieu of repeating his entire blather at this point, the reader is referred to the outline which follows The Log.
Raffle Drawing Winners – All winners received fabulous prizes which including wine, carmel corn, and Peace Corps Calendars. (THE LOG does not report drawing winners to the IRS.)
Speaker : “Peace Corps & Rotary, United in Service” presented by Stephanie Nys
Stephanie was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia where she taught in an “up-country” school. She shared stories of life in Liberia, and the mission of the Peace Corps in which about 7,000 volunteers serve in 65 countries – mostly in the area of education and public health. Volunteers range in age from 20-70, and typically serve for 2 years. Peace Corps pays for living expenses, travel to and from sites, and an $8,000 re-settlement allowance that helps returning Volunteers get launched in graduate school, or funds to ease a transition to whatever follows.
President Wright wrapped up the meeting by thanking our visiting students and guestsThank you – Contributions, Visitors, Guests and reminded everyone to RSVP their attendance intentions for the next meeting, and shared an aphorism:
