PRE-MEETING/MEETING TIDBITS:
Today, June 23rd, is National Typewriter Day. Guess what this LOG was written on.
MEETING:
President Kelli Thode led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and into our 50th meeting of the year and our 5,650th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett. There were 24+/- Rotarians, guests, and 4 ZOOMERS in attendance.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Kari Quaas pointed out how wonderful it has been to watch the World Cup matches, the diversity of the teams and spectators and how the entire spectacle appears to bring hope to the world.
INTRODUCION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
Neha Kaur introduced her 6-year-old son, Zorin.
Megan Dunn introduced Mike, her legislative aide.
ANNOUCEMENTS:
On the second Wednesday of every month there is a social hour from 9:00 am – 10:00 am and it is held at different locations around Everett. Non-Rotarians are invited to come as well. It was requested if the time on some of these months could be changed to an earlier
time so that more people could participate. The July location will be announced at next week’s meeting.
President Kelli invited all of us to a BBQ honoring our exchange student Hakumi, that will be held on July 2nd at Legion Park.
President Kelli also mentioned that Janice Ellis along with Hakumi, and other YES (Youth engaged in Service) youth are still in Guatemala and will return for next week’s meeting.
President Kelli announced that there will be a Celebration of Life for past Everett Rotarian and District Governor Don Senter on Sunday June 28th at Washington Oakes from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. We will have a resolution for Don at next week’s meeting.
HAPPY DOLLARS AND BIRTHDAY BUCKS:
President Elect Kari Petrasek was happy to have attended the Rotary International Convention in Taipei and for the fellowship she had visiting with our District Governor
Shawn O’Donnell and his wife along with others she met from our District and the
world.
President Kelli was happy to have attended a family reunion in Kansas over the weekend
but was not happy to find out that her packed laptop (used to prepare and outline what she
wanted to accomplish at our meeting today) was taken out of her luggage by security. Kelli had to come up with plan “B” in preparing for our meeting.
Past President Steve Miller, after a hiatus from competitive water skiing the last few years (to recover from his latest skiing injuries) took to the water last Friday at a competition and qualified for nationals. On Saturday he crashed during a jump and had to take a boat ride back to shore. His family would like him to “retire” and after having over 25 surgeries pursuing his passion, we understand why. For those who don’t know Steve is in the Snohomish County Hall of Fame for his water-skiing prowess.
Henry Janicki was happy that his sister is getting married.
Neha Kaur reminded Past President Ed Petersen of his Rotary trip to India in 2022 with 8 people from our club and a connection to 2 clubs in India for several projects over a 3-week period. Ed was also happy that he is now fully retired.
Glenn Bachman was happy to see that World Cup viewings on the waterfront have been a big success where upwards 5,000 – 6,000 spectators have been joining in on all the fun.
I was sitting right next to Mark Johnson and as I was scribbling down notes from what Glenn had said I totally missed what Mark was saying. I did hear it turned out well.

Past President Neil Angst with the help of Zorin called out the following winning tickets.

PLAN “B” PROGRAM:
President Kelli provided each of us with a red (no)and green (yes) card that we used when she gave us the following questions. Our answers generated more discussion, but this reporter couldn’t keep up. We had a lot of fun and group interaction.

SHARED MOMENT:
Betsy Baker- Bold
- Has been an Everett Rotarian for 25 years.
- Past President Mark Baker was her father and her inspiration to become a member of Rotary.
- Betsy’s classification is Physical Therapy which she first practiced within a group. When the owner’s sold the practice to a larger “national” firm she transitioned out and started her own practice.
- Having her own practice, located in the Hartley Mansion, has allowed Betsy to run her business her way and to be able to provide integrated care to her patients and to help people live up to their potential, whether it is someone like you or me or an Olympic athlete.
- Besides work Betsy has enjoyed skiing and teaching skiing, it has always been a big part of her life.
