Rotarians were greeted by PP Randy Hansen and Kelli Thode.
President Amy Norman opened the 40th meeting of her term. Tom Lane lead with the Pledge of Allegiance. All remained standing for Henry Newton’s Thought of the Day which was the importance of education and attending the Scholarship Presentations coming up.

Meeting Sponsor: Everett Community College; John Olson offered a Midterm Exam to everyone – could they name the person who had attended Everett Community College. - Induction of David Cope proposed by Kaye Phinney. His classification is Financial. David works for Coastal Community Bank – Downtown Everett and was a former Rotarian.
- Dawson Place Check – President Amy Norman presented a Local Impact Grant, $727, to Matt McLaughlin.
- Catering Contract – Amy Norman announced that the meal price will increase to $15 on July 1st.
- Rotary Park Clean-up and Rededication – Jerry Tucker announced that the Rotary Park clean up will be May 18th from 9 am to 12 pm. BBQ lunch will be served so please sign up.
- Seattle Storm Fellowship – Tammy Dunn announced the Meet the Seattle Storm Coach at Scuttlebutt Brewery & Taproom on Tuesday, April 30th. Please let Tammy know if you will be attending.

Program: “Hopeworks Update” presented by Ed Petersen introduced by Fred Safstrom
Ed Petersen discussed Hopeworks as a model for solving homelessness. Hopeworks story is “One Household at a Time”. Relationships is a key in helping people in creating a quality of living for them. Hopeworks is a Social Enterprise and was founded by Housing Hope. Both organizations work together. The new Hopeworks building on Broadway will have 65 apartments and a culinary training program. Everett Rotary club donated $100,000 to assist with culinary training program. Hopeworks address five community challenges – Affordable Housing, Homelessness, Workforce Development, Sustainability, and Transit Oriented Development.
