ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
MEETING:
President Michael Kvistad started the 46th meeting of the year and the 5,596th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Ashley Bolden presented a quote by Thomas Jefferson. The quote was about “Every difference opinion….” (Log reporter did not get the quote.)
INTRODUCTION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
Betsy Baker-Bold introduced her dad, former Everett Rotarian & Past President Marc Baker. Janice Ellis introduced Marissa, Tobi’s host mom. Ashley Bolden introduced her daughter, Bailey, as she joined us today.
ANNOUNCMENTS:
President Michael mentioned that Past District Secretary Pat Bond passed away. She had been invovled with Rotary District 5050 since 1995.
Kari Quaas talked about the AVID Shopping Spree on June 3rd & June 5th from 6 pm – 7:30 pm at the Mill Creek Fred Meyer. Volunteers are needed for both days.
Rotary Club Board meeting is Friday, May 30th, 7:30 am via Zoom Meeting. Members are welcome.
Coffee Hour @ The Loft Coffee Shop on June 11th at 9 am
American Red Cross Blood Drive is June 27th from 10 am – 3 pm at the Everett Elks Lodge. Snohomish County Rotaract are volunteering so we have plenty of volunteers.
Ashley Bolden and President Michael showed photos of the District 5050 Conferencce and gave us an update of the conference.
HAPPY DOLLARS/BIRTHDAY BUCKS:
John Olson, PP & Club Historian, was happy as the Club’s history is completed. Two way test – Good as Larry O’Donnell – No; Done – Yes.
Rose Goulet, PP, thanked many for honoring her dad at the Scholarship Night. Many thanks to Anna Marie Laurence, John Olson, Walt Greenwood.
Betsy Baker-Bold was happy that her dad was here and had a wonderful 10 days in Maui.
Marc Baker was back for the Class of 1963 Scholarship. His truck died and needs a new engine and Dwayne Lane’s provided a loaner.
Heather Barnhart was happy to be here and had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.
Walt Greenwood had a Facebook promotion about playing music at the Everett Market.
Mark Valentine had two Seattle Symphony tickets + parking for June 7th and June 14th.
RAFFLE:
Winner Number 1 – Kelli Thode chose the wine and cards.
Winner Number 2 – Andy Hall chose the Aquasox merchandise and chocolates.
Winner Number 3 – Marc Baker won the Seattle Mariner jersey and candy.
PROGRAM:
Janice Ellis introduced Tobi Echauri. Tobi is the exchange student that we hosted for the school year. He gave us his retrospective of his year. He attended Everett High School and had two host families.
Tobi was awarded a Paul Harris Certificate & Medal. Congratulations!
Tobi showed a slideshow of his Exchange Year. We welcomed him at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in August then had a BBQ party at Janice’s house. He talked about the friends he made at high school and about his fellow exchange friends.
The Miller family was his first host family. The Burhgdoff Family was his second host family.
He went to the symphony with Mark Valentine. He went to Dominican Republic with the World Community Service group. He enjoyed helping people and collaborating with others.
Thank you, Rotary Club of Everett! You made my year better!
