President Kari Petrasek started the 4^th meeting of the year and the 5,655^th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Krissy Davis gave the Thought of the Day. The thought was about small acts of kindness and service and caring about each other.

 

Mount Vernon Rotarian David Lukov introduced Avery with Fast Signs Everett. Ken McClure introduced his daughter, Celicia, and his son, Nolan.

 

Ken McClure is a longtime resident of Everett. He has worked in the banking industry for 20+ years. His family and him enjoy being outdoors – fishing and hiking.

 

Minh Ly grew up in California and comes from a family of eight brothers and sisters. He moved to Washington in 2015. His wife and him have two children, 5-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. He has been in the banking industry for 20+ years.

 

Both Ken and Minh gave a history of BECU. Minh works on the consumer side, and Ken works on the business side of the banking. Boeing Employees begin the organization in 1935. In 1940 the official name Boeing Employees Credit Union began. In 2025 BECU has its 90^th anniversary.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Kelli Thode announced a membership social coffee hour is held on the 2^nd Wednesday of the month from 8:00AM to 9:00AM. The next coffee hour will be August 12^th at Choux Choux Bakery.

 

Snohomish County Rotaract is having a golf tournament which is a fundraiser for their Guatemala trip. The tournament is Sunday, 8/2. They are seeking volunteers and golfers. Register at Golf for Guat (2nd Annual)

 

Kari Quaas asked everyone to sign a get-well card for Larry O’Donnell. He is in hospital and has had a procedure. Keep Larry in your thoughts.

 

Rotary Hands Across the Border is August 8^th at the Peace Arch. All Rotarians are welcome to attend the event. Lunch is provided. A great opportunity to meet other clubs in the district.

 

Henry Janicki had a bell ringer. He is grateful as 10 years ago he had a terrible logging accident.

 

Janice Ellis took a 10-day trip to the East Coast.

 

Anna Marie Laurence was happy as she took a “Find your roots” three week trip to Norway with her children.

 

Betsy Baker-Bold had a bell ringer (Marc Baker’s scholarship) as it has been a year since the passing of her dad, Marc Baker.

 

Mark Valentine gave a bell ringer to Marc Baker’s scholarship.

 

Krissy Davis was happy that she went to the hospital when she was not feeling well.

 

Neha came back from India recently and visited where she was born.

 

Ed Petersen is parting to Norway to spend time with his family and extended family.

 

RAFFLE:

There was a reminder to donate more prizes to the Raffle Committee.

 

Winner Number 1 – Ed Petersen received chocolates and sage.

 

Winner Number 2 – Greg Tisdel selected wine and yogis.

 

Winner Number 3 – Kelli Thode selected Lavendar cider and honey.

 

PROGRAM:

President Kari Petrasek introduced the program speaker, David Lukov. David is serving at the Solie Funeral home and is providing grieving support to the community. He shared a story about grieving 35 years ago. His father passed away at the age of 65. He talked about how he dealt with his father’s passing and how he learned how to cope with losing people.

 

Grieving does not go away.

 

David provided three general concepts.

 

What is the best help?

David shared a closing thought. He discovered new growth in his life. Remember your loved ones and keep moving forward in a positive way.

 

President Kari thanked David for presenting and thanked the bell ringers.
