President Michael Kvistad started the 21^st meeting of the year and the 5,571^st meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance

 

President Michael had a trivia and I did not catch who won the trivia.

 

Ashley Bolden gave the thought of the day. “Be Free, Choose for yourself.” A quote from GAP & The Gain Book.

 

Janice Ellis introduced Tobi’s host family, Glen and Jenny Miller and Marissa who is the next host family for Tobi Echauri.

 

Jen Selders introduced Darryl Brackett, Alice’s father, and Alice Brackett.

 

Tricia Schultz introduced Julie Copeland and James Schnabel, Jenaveve’s parents, and Jenaveve Bates.

 

Cindy Kuntz introduced Lori and Chris Hahn, Tessa’s parents and Tessa Hahn.

 

President Michael had Neil Angst show a video on the Dajabon Rotary Club. The World Community Service Committee is in Dajabon.

 

Past President John Olson gave an update on Foundation Month. Over $6,000 has been received/pledged and three – four decks of cards have been sold. Next week, 11/26, is the final week to participate in the Deck of a Deal. A full report on December 3^rd.

 

Membership Moment – President Elect Kelli Thode gave a report on the Wine Tasting on 11/13. If was a fun evening. The club will continue to have extra opportunities for Rotarians to get together and be out having a good time at local businesses. In December, we will have a get together at Kindred Kitchen at 10:30 am on 12/5.

 

Ashley Bolden’s daughter will be celebrating her 6^th birthday on 11/20.

 

Janice Ellis announced that Tobi Echauri celebrates his 18^th birthday on Saturday, 11/23.

Winner Number 1 –Steve Miller selected the chocolate and t-shirt

Winner Number 2 – Alice Brackett, Everett HS student, selected the inspiration heart

Winner Number 3 – Cathy Woods selected the bottle of wine

 

Cassidy Spencer introduced the Students of the Month, parents, and advisors.

 

Everett High Student of the Month is Alice Brackett. Nominated by five teachers in different areas of study, with a 3.949 GPA, Alice is leader in her AP classes, the school’s band and the library’s makers space. She is a multiple year letter winner in track and cross-country. “What sets Alice apart is her incredible work ethic, said one teacher. “She tackles every task with determination and never backs down from a challenge.” Another said “Alice is quick to see what someone needs and is an incredible encourager. She has demonstrated a strength and resiliency that motivates everyone.” 

 

Student of the Month from Sequoia High is Jenaveve Bates. Her leadership teacher and past advisor said, “Jenaveve is a very thoughtful human, which comes through both in her academic work and as a leader. She sets a good example for other students and works well with everyone. She is always helpful to others and willing to support others in their success. As a leader, she coordinated a very successful ASB election this year and helped others create a successful first theme week. In planning events, she thinks of others often and leads with empathy.” Her goal is to earn a cosmetology degree.

 

Cascade High Student of the Month is Tessa Hahn, who has participated in rigorous classes while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She is involved in leadership classes, holds a Senior Class Officer position and is involved with several clubs. She is Cascade’s softball team captain and volunteers with the middle school softball team. Her teacher states, “Tessa’s commitment to her education and being her best academic self is evident in class – as she works hard to learn, understand why, apply the knowledge, and then use it in her daily life. She embodies what we want our students to be.”

 

Mark Valentine, PP, played the guitar while the attendees sang Happy Birthday to Tobi. Janice Ellis talked about the Youth Exchange. Kelli Thode presented Tobi with a gift from the Rotary Club and individual gifts from Rotarians who gave a pin representing their work or pins they had. Tobi blew out the candles and birthday cake was handed out to everyone to enjoy.
