ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
 
LEADING OFF
President Michael Kvistad “clunked” the bell at 11:59am, calling to order meeting #5597 of the Rotary Club of Everett and meeting #47 of his presidency. He then led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Ashley Bolden brought us the Thought of the Day, stating “You can’t predict the future, but you can create it.”
 
VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS
Anna Marie Laurence introduced her father-in-law, sister-in-law, and her sister, Sonya Laurence Green. Sonya took to the podium to describe her Rotary journey. In 1990 she received a Rotary scholarship to study in Kenya. She lived in Kenya for one year and met her husband there. She was the first female president of her Rotary club, where they raised money for wheelchairs and helped the disabled.
 
PP Greg Tisdel and PP Marc Baker then arrived at the meeting.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Janice Ellis announced that exchange students will be at her home on Saturday. Also, the Rotary Park cleanup is on this Saturday.
 
Kary Quaas announced the shopping spree for students June 3rd and 5th at Fred Meyer. Many Rotarians are helping.
 
PP Mark Valentine announced that the music committee needs people to help out.
 
Kelli Thode mentioned the coffee hour at Loft Coffee on June 11th at 9:00am. Also, the blood drive on June 27th.
 
Ryan Willis gave an update on the Rotary district committee.
 
Brian Hollingshead reminded the club of the happy hour on June 26th, 5:00- 6:30pm.
 
Walt Greenwood mentioned that he is running out of happy songs to sing. He then sang a sad song.
 
President Michael reminded the club to please update your address on Clubrunner.
 
HAPPY DOLLAR$
Julie Herber was happy that her oldest child is graduating high school.
 
PP John Olson turned 64 years old
 
PP Neil Angst turned 65 years old.
 
President Michael was happy that his daughter’s basketball team has a winning record. His other daughter is playing volleyball.
 
President Michael then presented Sonya Green with a donation in her name to Millennial Ministries.
 
RAFFLE
PP Neil Angst won a hat
 
Somebody(?) won a bottle of wine
 
PP Rose Goulet won a Hawaiian shirt
 
President Michael then announced that the district is trying to track down the glass Peach Arch.
 
TRIVIA!
President Michael hosted a trivia contest. Team names were:

  • 64 & More
  • Sunlight
  • ZZ Topp
 
Many interesting questions were asked and answered. In the end, team ZZ Topp was victorious!
 
President Michael the adjourned the meeting.
