Meeting #48 (5157) of THE ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT on June 21, 2016 was brought to order by President Deborah Wright, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Thought of the Day by Kathy Webber called “Walk the Road”.
The opening song, The Swedish Walking Song, was performed by Kathryn Goforth, with apologies to the Norwegians.
There were no visiting Rotarians, but two guests. Michael Hawks’s guest, Calvin Long was a RYLA participant, and Sally Lancaster’s guest, Lance Balla, is the new Everett High School principal.
A new member was brought in by Ron Thompson.(sorry, no name on the notes!)
Amy Norman provided free dental work for a student who changed his life (a very moving presentation).

Don Senter presented an original piece of art for incoming president Ed Peterson, who won the opening bid for $200.
There were happy dollars for Fred Sjholm (retiring? Last day as member?), Mark Nesse paid for “2 Rotarians on 2 wheels” across the country: Will McMahon (riding his bike across the country), and Marc Baker (riding his Harley to Newfoundland), Russ Kimball (notes say 24, so maybe 24 years of marriage?), Steve Juntwait for his birthday, Sally Lancaster for 280 EHS graduates, Dick Schlosser got a hole in one yesterday! (was it in putt putt or a real course?). Raffle winners were Don Senter, Steve Miller and Andrea Sekora. Greg Tisdel won the Losers drawing.
Jeff Cornish introduced the Program for today: “Year-End Award Presentations” presented by Deborah Wright. While it was difficult to come up with words to describe President Deb, the word KIND was expressed, and she was thanked for her fantastic year, which included many family and hands-on opportunities to get involved, $180K in scholorships, ongoing support of AVID, a Dominican Republic International Service Project in the works, an outbound and inbound Exchange student, and some very successful centennial planning, among many other accomplishments! President Deb was provided a gift of an engraved photobook and wine glasses, and some wine.

Greg Tisdel recognized Committee Chairs including Kathy Webber, Jim Schraeder, Fred Safstrom, Jeff Cornish. Outgoing Board members were: Jeff Mitchell, Ted Wenta, Sally Lancaster.
Awards were also presented to Ed Peterson for his work on the Strategic Planning, and Judi Edwards for holding the club together.
