Rotary Log 3/1/2016
The Rotary Club of Everett
Meeting of March 1, 2016

On a rainy Tuesday afternoon, VP Jeff Cornish offered to hang up Rotarians’ wet coats and umbrellas then gave us a genuine smile and handshake.  What a nice way to start the 5141st club meeting!
President Deborah Wright began the 32nd meeting of her term by leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Ray Stephanson offered the Thought of the Day with a quote from the Dalai Lama’s thoughts about what surprises him most.  In a nutshell, we need to appreciate our lives.
PE Ed Petersen greeted visiting Rotarians and Past District Governors Larry Jubie and Harv Jubie, who were our only guests.
Mike McGinnis was inducted to our Club.  Mike’s classification is Associations, Boys and Girls Club.

President Deb acknowledged Walt Greenwood’s efforts to get our Club’s involvement with Students of the Month in the February edition of the District Peace Arch Journal.

Shelley Smith presented new membership requirements.  The new requirements involve interaction with Club members and activities – good for all of us!

Time for Trivia
Jim Staniford announced it was National Peanut Butter Lovers Day and also National Pig Day.  Oink….

Moment in History
PP Mark Nesse stepped in for an ailing PP Larry O’Donnell.  Mark told us 99 years ago today, Rotary International extended 14 Club charters, including our Club. One year from today, our Club will be at Xfinity to celebrate our 100th anniversary gala event!
