Following greetings by Garth Fell and Reid Hale, President Amy opened meeting #5267 at 12:05pm and led all in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Brian Hollingshead then provided our Thought of the Day, reminding us that life goes by fast - make every day count.

With no visiting Rotarians today, Garth Fell introduced guests Timothy Ham, Gleyn Bledsoe, former exchange student Daniel Neelsen and his partner Mackenzie Kermoade, and inbound exchange student Melissa Tejada-Vasquez.

Announcements:
Judi Edwards provided an update on the September 28 Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Hosts are in place - except in Mukilteo - and guests are needed. Sonya Kraski told us that the seven folks who attended the fireside at Lombardi's had a great time. Steve Miller said the same thing about the Happy Hour Social at the Marriott on Colby with 17 attending.

The much anticipated opening of the Everett Rotary safety deposit box followed with much fanfare, including the local press.
Interesting items inside, but no charter and no money.

Finally, President  Amy reminded us that the October 30 meeting will be costume day, with D.G. Linda Murray attending.

Happy/Birthday Dollars came fast and furious from: Marc Baker - travels and birthdays; Don Senter- seeing a banker in handcuffs; Betsy Baker - back from Argentina and dad back home; Tom Rainville - belated wife's birthday; Janice Ellis - Rotary exchange student year; Daniel Neelsen(former exchange student) - thanks to a very welcoming club; Danny Tetzlaff - golf in Lynden and a great year for the Aquasox; Russ Hermes - birthday and anniversary; Scott Casselman - trip to New York City to see daughter; President Amy - thanks to Greg Tisdel for driving to the golf outing in Lynden; and. Greg Tisdel - taking care of dad's caregivers.

Today's Raffle winners were: Ed Rubatino - wine, candy and Aquasox tickets; Jessica Mitchell - free lunch, Starbucks card, wine and Aquasox tickets; and Steve Miller - assorted tools, wine and Aquasox tickets.

Program:
WSU Food Sciences, presented by Dr. Glen Bledsoe, introduced by President Amy. Glen gave a very interesting talk about the parts that WSU, U of I, and Everett all play in this "applied science" to support and meet the seafood needs in Washington. Their program works with the food growers and processors in the region. Currently located in a temporary facility at the Everett Marina, plans are to build a permanent one at the Port of Everett to provide research, training and conference facilities to help the entire industry. Educational plans include Distance Learning Certificate programs, Master's Degree programs, Internships and in 2019 a Bachelors degree in food science.

President Amy presented Greg Tisdel with her Inspiration Award, recognizing all he has done for Rotary and our club while focusing on her fifth test - "Is it Fun?" Following

Thank You's and reminders, the meeting was adjourned.
