President Kelli Thode rang the bell at 12:01pm, calling to order meeting #5649 of the Rotary Club of Everett and meeting #49 of her presidency. She then led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Kari Quaas presented the thought of the day, discussing the many connections we have with each other. She also thanked President Kelli for allowing her to serve on the thought of the day committee.

 

PP Greg Tisdel introduced visiting Rotarian, Bill from the Arlington Rotary Club. Ashley Bolden introduced her daughter, Bailey and her “puppy” Lilly.

 

Heather Barnhart announced the blood drive on June 26, 10am-3pm at the Everett Elks. She also announced the farewell barbecue for exchange student Hakumi on July 2, from 3-7pm.

 

President Kelli announced the passing of PP & PDG Don Senter. There are details in her previous email. A resolution will be presented at a future club meeting.

 

PP Greg Tisdel discussed the recent Rotary Park cleanup project. It was a great day with many Rotarians and exchange students participating.

 

Visiting Rotarian Bill introduced his fellow club member, Barney Petersen. Barney is the brother of our own PP Ed Petersen. The Arlington Rotary Club is selling tickets for their annual Duck Dash on July 4. Tickets are $20 for 5 tickets.

 

Janice Ellis announced that the Rotary exchange students are spending their last month together. They will be going on a river rafting trip. Janice and Hakumi will be traveling to Guatemala to build stoves.

 

Kari Quaas was happy about the FIFA World Cup fan zone. Many people have shown up at the fan zone. She was also sad that her aunt had passed away.

 

PP John Olson had birthday & anniversary bucks, as well as receiving advice from PP Larry O’Donnell. $100.

 

Janice Ellis enjoyed the Rotary Park cleanup.

 

Henry Janicki had $10 for being late, and for getting to go “swimming” in the cold river waters.

 

PP Dick Schlosser was glad to be back in town.

 

Visiting Rotarian Bill was happy to see a picture of PP & PDG Don Senter. He also stated that Rotary can make a lot of cool things happen.

 

Lynsey Gagnon was happy to be back.

 

Steve Junwait returned from a fishing trip in Sitka, Alaska - a 15-year tradition.

 

President Kelli thanked Jim Schraeder, Janice Ellis, PP Greg Tisdel, PP Neil Angst and Sandy Oettel for their help with the Rotary Park cleanup. 

 

Ashley Bolden said that her daughter Bailey was happy to have Lilly back with her.

Ryan Willis introduced today’s speaker, Adrianne Wagner with Leadership Snohomish County. Adrianne shared some impacts that LSC has had on the community. Past impact projects have included:

Get Rid of That - A way to find out how to dispose of just about anything

 

Music for Life - Supplying musical instruments for youth in need

 

Mary Ann’s Table - Helping recent widows with household projects

 

Candidates can apply directly to the program. Tuition is $3500. Scholarships are available.

 

Adrianne then entertained questions from club members.

 

President Kelli presented Adrianne with a certificate of donation to the Carl Gibson Senior Center. She then thanked our guests.
