Rotary Club of Everett
MEETING:
President Neil Angst led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and into our 45th meeting of the year and the 5,548th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett.
MUSIC OF THE DAY:
Walt Greenwood played his guitar and sang “Do why you do, do well”.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
No visiting Rotarians or guests.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Larry O’Donnell commented “What a great honor!” as the Everett High School Library is named in his honor. He appreciated the many Rotarians in attendance. Thank you, Henry Newton!
Kari Quaas thanked the volunteers who helped at the Shopping Spree on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. This wraps up the scholarship year!
President Neil mentioned that on June 20th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm there will be a VOA Food Bank sorting party. All are welcome to help.
President Neil also mentioned that on June 20th from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm you can enjoy Rotary after Hours at the Courtyard by Marriot on Colby.
Kelli Thode stated the Everett Rotary and the Everett Elks Blood Drive needs volunteers between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on June 28th to help sign people in.
President Neil told us that the Changing of the Guard will be held on July 2nd.
HAPPY DOLLARS AND BIRTHDAY BUCKS:
Steven Juntwait is a proud Seagull and proud of Larry O’Donnell.
Larry O’Donnell was proactive for the front page story in the Herald and Everett High School being 134 years old.
Kari Quaas was happy for a fantastic Sorticulture with lots of people and very grateful.
Michael Kvistad was happy for a consignment shop on Hewitt who is doing well with business.
Mark Valentine, PP, was happy as he attended his medical school’s 50th year reunion and 37 people were in attendance.
Tammy Dunn gave early birthday bucks and will be spending a week with family in Montana.
Janice Ellis was happy for the Shopping Spree, happy Father’s Day and other things.
David Chan told a story about the travel business (did not catch what the story was about).
Zeb Cobb was happy has Betty is retiring from Everett School District.
Don Steward had birthday bucks.
President Neil Angst told a story at the Shopping Spree.
RAFFLE:
Winner number 1 – Walt Greenwood selected a bottle of red (dark bottled) wine.
Winner number 2 - Past President Steve Miller picked the white wine.
Winner number 3 – Katie Evans, speaker, received the popcorn.
PROGRAM: Katie Evan Speaks
Ryan Willis introduced our speaker, Katie Evans. She is an author, entrepreneur and makes strangers laugh.
Katie asked the group “What more do you need in your life? What do you want less in life?”. The group mentioned:
- Less time on the computer
- More time to travel
- More time for freedom
- Less stress
- Less pain
- More time for hobbies
- More time with family
- More time for deeper conversations
- More computer knowledge
Katie offered ways for us to achieve the items on the list. Way to spend less time on the computer, more time to travel, etc.
She stated that we need to allocate an amount of time for each one. What is the payoff for each one? Eventually we will make the only decision. Everything is about the people.
For each item that we would like more or less in life, we should:
- Make decisions
- Be creative
- Be positive
- Self help / take care of ourselves and others
MEETING ADJOURNED:
President Neil thanked Katie for being our speaker, thanked the many bell ringers and stated, “Create Hope in the World”. President Neil adjourned the meeting at 12.58 pm
