ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
 
LEADING OFF:
President Kelli Thode rang the bell at 12:04pm, calling to order meeting #5613 of the Rotary Club of Everett, and meeting #13 of her presidency. She then led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Glenn Bachman presented the Thought of the Day, speaking about time he spent listening to World War II veterans at a cafe in Lynnwood.
 
VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS:
Visiting Rotarians included: Shawn O’Donnell, District Governor Nominee,
Carrie Radcliff, President of South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary, John Spencer, Lake Stevens Rotary.
 
PP Larry O’Donnell introduced Judi Edwards.
 
Janice Ellis introduced our guests from Hungary.

Hanga Valeria - Rotarian from Hungary
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Heather Barnhart discussed the upcoming blood drive on Friday, October 24th,
10am-3pm, at Everett Elks Lodge.
 
President Kelli announced Shacktober on September 25th. She also announced Rotary Coffee Hour on Wednesday, October 8th, 9am, at Milkhouse Coffee Company.
 
HAPPY DOLLAR$:
  • Judi Edwards had $100 in memory of PP Marc Baker.
  • Betsy Baker Bold stated that Marc would be happy to see Judi. She also ran her first 10K.
  • Paul Stoot had $100 for his 62nd birthday.
  • Henry Janicki had raffle tickets for the fundraiser for his friend who died in a logging accident.
  • PP Larry O’Donnell was happy to see Judi Edwards, our guests from Hungary, and Shawn O’Donnell.
  • PP Mark Valentine had $100 for turning 77 and a recent vacation to Europe.
  • Jim Staniford was happy to see Judi, and our guests from Hungary. He also had $500 in memory of PP Marc Baker.
  • Shawn O’Donnell was happy about the credibility that Bill Gates gives to Rotary.
  • President Kelli is expecting her first grandchild. She will be traveling  to Montana.
RAFFLE:
Raffle winners were:
  • Shawn O’Donnell won a Snickers candy bar & wine
  • PP Larry O’Donnell won candy & a glass
  • Shawn O’Donnell won Life Savers & a glass
PROGRAM: Rotary Friendship Exchange with Hungary

Janice Ellis took to the podium and described our Hungarian guests’ journey. They began their travels in Canada and came south. We are the last stop on their journey. While they were here, our guests experienced the following:
 
Saturday - Baseball game, dinner at Steve Miller’s home followed by a boat trip across Lake Stevens for dessert.
 
Sunday - Visited Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. They also experienced the light rail system.
 
Monday - Visited the Museum of Flight, Snohomish, and had a barbeque at Lake Stevens.
 
Tuesday - Glass blowing at the Shack Arts Center. Meeting with PP Andy Hall to discuss architecture.
 
Wednesday - Flying home.
 
A video was played, showing many innovations and inventions from Hungary. Our guests presented banners from their clubs. President Kelli then presented our guests with banners from our club.  The guests entertained questions from the club members.
