Rotary Club of Everett Meeting of September 13, 2022 (5,463 club meeting) President Tammy Dunn began her 11th meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Today’s Thought of the Day was switched up to “Music of the Day”. Mark Valentine dedicated returning students, workers, life happenings and our Seattle Seahawks first game with Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down”. Great music, vocals and lyrics! There were no visiting Rotarians or guests. Announcements - Kelli Thode: Blood Drive is September 30th at the Elks Lodge from 10:30-3:30.

- September 20th meeting is in-person only. It will be a pizza lunch for $12.

- Neil Angst: Celebrated WSU’s big win. Go Cougs!
- Mark Valentine: Celebrating his 74th birthday with a great cruise!
- Tom Koenig: Sold has moved to Wenatchee. He also suffered Transient Global Amnesia for 5-6 hours. Fortunately, he’s fine now. Bell Ringer!
- Paul Stoot: Celebrated a great 59th birthday and gave a Bell Ringer!
- Krissy Davis: Go Mariners!
- Anna Marie Laurence: Is wearing a hat for a while because of skin cancer being removed. She also shared that her husband was hiking 5 ½ miles from the Bolt fire and happy he’s safe.
- Tom Koenig: Tom remembered his 1st firefighting experience. It hurts if a helicopter drop water on you!

Program: New Chapter for the Carl Gipson Center President Tammy introduced Cory Armstrong-Hoss, Volunteers of America Cory shared an informative Carl Gipson Center video, which has transitioned to partner with the Volunteers of America. The City of Everett owns the building and land. The Center closed during Covid and reopened in 2022. They currently have 632 members, with a $25 annual membership, offering recreation, activities and speakers for mind/body and health. The Center had been focused on seniors 50 and older. They have recently expanded services to refugees and young adults 18-21 years old with disabilities and underserved youth. The Everett Public Schools is a new partner for the youth programs.
