President Michael Kvistad rang the bell at 12 noon, calling to order meeting #5599 of the Rotary Club of Everett and meeting #49 of his presidency. He then led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Ashley Bolden presented the Thought of the Day, stating “Share you smile with the world.”

 

Ryan Willis introduced past District Governor, David Lukov.

Betsy Baker Bold introduced Henry Janeke.

 

Krissy Davis introduced Brittany Williams, Executive Director of United Way of Snohomish County.

 

PP Ed Petersen introduced his brother Barney from the Arlington Rotary Club.

 

Guest Barney announced the Arlington Rotary Duck Dash.

 

Brian Hollingshead reminded the club of the happy hour on June 26^th, 5:00-6:30pm.

 

President Michael announced the blood drive on June 27^th.

 

PP Neil Angst discussed the Everett Rotary Youth Foundation report. He also mentioned that PP John Olson has updated the club history from 2017 to the present.

 

PP Steve Miller had an injury from a ski jump.

 

Ashley Bolden was happy that her daughter was graduating from kindergarten.

 

Marybeth Dingledy shared a story about an abusive defendant in her courtroom.

 

Ryan Willis had fun at the Stanwood-Camano soapbox derby.

 

Janice Ellis was happy to be retired and was happy about the youth exchange party and Rotary Park cleanup.

Janice Ellis introduced past District Governor, David Lukov. David was happy to see Kari Petrasek. He also thanked Ryan Willis for his work with the district.

 

The Rotary District 5050 Friendship Exchange helps to build international understanding. David met Elizabeth Kovacs, past governor of Rotary district 1911. They discussed having a friendship exchange. Hungary is in Eastern Europe and his about half the size of Washington. It became an independent country in 1989.

 

Their first trip was to Szeged, where they visited several Rotary clubs. They also visited many churches and synagogues, as well as a Ukrainian refugee school. They traveled to Szolnok, where they toured a plywood factory. In Godollo they attended the chartering of the Godollo Rotary club. They visited with the Rotary club of Budapest Sasad and toured the home of the Hungarian ambassador.

 

Janice then discussed hosting Hungarian Rotarians September 21-24 in conjunction with the South Everet/Mukilteo and Lake Stevens Rotary clubs.

David then entertained questions from club members.

 

President Michael thanked David and presented a gift in his name to Millennial Ministries. He then adjourned the meeting.
