President Neil started the meeting at 12:06 pm with members attending in-person and online for today’s meeting at the Legion Golf Club. This was Rotary Club meeting $5540 and current year’s meeting #37.

 

No visiting Rotarians. Our guests included the Students of the Month, their parents, and the school staff. 

 

Brian Hollingshead promoted the upcoming Rotary After Hours at the Courtyard by Marriott Everett this Thursday from 5-7 pm.

 

There is a service opportunity at the Food Bank this Thursday from 2 to 4 pm.

The upcoming District 5050 Conference will be Saturday, May 4^th in Mount Vernon.  Cost is $150.   

 

Janice Ellis requested help with speakers for her program at Eisenhower Elementary School.  They need engineers, nurses, and actors. 

 

Steve Miller had $5 happy dollars for the Masters Golf tournament bet.

 

Cat Wilson had Birthday bucks for her spring break trip to Cabo and her son’s 10^th birthday. 

 

Cathy Woods also had a wonderful spring break with a view of the solar eclipse. 

 

Heather Barnhardt can’t beat the eclipse, but she celebrated her son’s birthday.  

 

Raffle winners today were Kevin Nichols (Wine), Heather Barnhardt (lunch), and Larry O’Donnell (Wine).

 

Tricia Shultz introduced the Sequoia High Student of the Month – Duane Hanson.  Duane has shown excellence in leadership and a hard-working attitude.  He has strong academics as well as a strong interest in automotive and innovation.  His desire is to go to trade school and own his automotive business in the future.

 

Cascade High’s student of the month-Charlie Pak – was introduced by Trish Roberts. Charlie is outstanding as a scholar, athlete, and student leader.  His classes are AP focused and take Calculus as independent study.  He is captain of Varsity Tennis. He is also leader of the food drive and the Stuff the Bus campaigns.  His plans include a degree in chemical engineering and a career at Boeing or NASA.

 

Jen Selders introduced Everett High’s Student of the Month-Saron Mulugeta. Born in Ethiopia and overcoming health challenges, Saron has excelled as a student and a leader at Everett.  She has been a leader in the Robotics Club and has encouraged diversity with her involvement in the Welcoming Diversity student group.  She has also served as a VP of the Tech Student Association and serves as Class Senator.   She has also served as an intern at Fred Hutch and Seattle’s Childrens Hospital.  She plans on a career in Biomedical Engineering.

 

All the students of the month received a challenge coin, pin, and certificate from President Neil.  Counselors were honored with a contribution to Bridge Receiving group.

 

After questions, President Neil thanked the students and their parents for their attendance.
