Everett Rotary Meeting – August 1, 2017 President Will McMahan opened meeting leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Howie Bargreen had the Thought of the Day. On the table Howie left a Rotary Log from 1921 that was his Grandfather’s. He read a quote “Happiness lies in being privileged to work hard for long hours in doing whatever you thin is worth doing”. Deri Ford welcomed visiting Rotarians and Guests: Visiting Rotarians Sean Straub and Gary Kenna (South Everett Mukilteo)  Guests: Kari Petrasek with Mary Beth Dingledy Announcements - Todd Morrow – Reclassification Talks. You can redo or update your Rotary Classification Talk for $25.
- Judi Edwards for Janice Ellis – Sunday, August 6th at 4:30 at Janice Ellis’ house Youth Exchange Program to send-off for Espen Diamond and welcome home Courtney.
- Lyle Ryan – Membership Committee. July processed several new applications and will have 2 new members inducted next week. July and August if you bring in a new member you will receive a Paul Harris. Goal is to end the year at 150 members.
- Judi Edwards – Rotary Attire. There are order forms out front for Everett Rotary polos and sweatshirts. The Club’s order will be placed at the end of August.
- President Will McMahan – September 23rd couple events Bellingham Rotary celebrating their centennial and Rotary Leadership Institute. The Club will pay for anyone wanting to attend the Rotary Leadership Institute.

Raffle Winners of Wine, T-Shirt, Hat, Cider, Free Lunch and Blast Bow were Joe Claeys, Betsy Baker-Bold and Tom Rainville. Program:"Pro Aerial Drone Racing” Tammy Dunn introduced Brian Deller, Scott Whiteker and Ken Allison of Pro Arial League Drone Racing. Brian Deller talked about how the drone racing has is done and how it has evolved as a fringe sports. Drone racing is done in closed arenas and is film only and is shown on ESPN. From last year’s inaugural GE², gaming and experiential entertainment event at CenturyLink, the idea for a team drone racing league was hatched by Brian, Scott & Ken. Pro Aerial League will have 6 teams with 6 pilots each. The inaugural event will be on August 19th at Xfinity Arena. The event will be an experience for spectators. Besides watching drone racing there will be other things that spectators will be able to participate in like dodge ball, virtual reality and virtual sports. |
