Rob is the Membership Chair for District 5050, South Everett Mukilteo Rotarian, works at Everett Community College and has four children. Program: Rob Press talked about Rotary District Membership. He committed to visiting all Rotary Club. His role is to let the clubs know how we are doing at the district level. Everett Rotary Club’s first point of contact with membership is Greg Tisdal. Membership at the District level has declined over the last couple of years. • July 2015 - 2565 • July 2016 - 2575 • July 2017 - 2512 It is the belief that the membership committee is the one to recruit new members. Actually it is everyone’s responsibility. Rob discussion points of what we can do as a club to increase membership. He asked “How many of us know someone who should be a Rotary? What stops us?” Reasons it is difficult to increase membership • Fear of Refusal - do not like to be told “No” • Personal Preparation - ask what Rotary is about • Small Steps - Not Large - membership as a attraction not recruiting • Supports and Structure - help you to recruit Overcome Fear • Virtually everyone wants to give back in their own way • Perspective and clarity - attraction not recruitment • Experiences are what count • Rotary benefits our community • Natural pathway to exhibit passion Personal Preparation What is your Rotary Story Elevator Speech - create a 30 second to 1 minute elevator speech about Rotary. What is your Club Cause Everett Rotary - scholarships college Youth - #1 cause - does the community know that the Youth is #1 cause Are we messaging our #1 cause to the community? Top 2 Reasons join Rotary are give back to community and fellowship. Top 2 reasons people stay a member are the same. Small Steps - Not Large • Invite to participate in activity, social gathering, community service project or fundraising activity. The District provides support to the clubs. Amy Norman - 2018/19 Club Structure is designed to have veteran and newer members to work together and the Avenue of Service communicating to the chairs/committees and to position everyone on a committee that interests the member. Rob asked us to do the following: • Prepare 2 Elevator speeches - What is Rotary and Your Rotary Story • Invite someone to a community service project or social activity Everett Rotary Club has been declining and not part of growth that has been occurring with the other clubs. 1:05 Thank you – Contributions, Visitors, Guests Next Program: “Snohomish Co.
